Debbie and Tim Bishop bought Medicine Bow Lodge in 2002. The ranch is rich in history, with the lodge being built in early 1917, with the original kitchen and dining room still intact, and functioning to serve our guests delicious meals. Medicine Bow Lodge operates as a guest dude ranch during late spring, summer, and fall.

The ranch is known for its diverse horseback riding program. Tim, along with his staff of handpicked wranglers go out of their way to make certain the young, and young at heart feel confident and comfortable in the saddle. The trails take you through the pristine snowy range mountains and meadows giving you breathtaking views wherever you look. All our guests are welcome to learn and participate in the care of the horses. They can learn to groom, oil the saddle, saddle and feed their horse while staying here.

We are proud to share great mountain views, rushing streams, towering fir trees and a true Old West experience for visitors to this beautiful part of our state. Fishing, hiking, horseback riding and evening campfires are among the memorable activities at the family-owned Lodge.

Medicine Bow Lodge & Adventure Guest Ranch is an all-inclusive experience, with every meal and activity included in your stay. Beyond our horseback riding program, there's plenty for the whole family to enjoy: guided hiking and fishing excursions, canoeing, archery, roping lessons, horseshoes, target shooting, and more. And every evening, gather around the campfire for S'mores — because really, who doesn't love S'mores?

Tucked into the Medicine Bow National Forest, the lodge sits in one of the most beautiful spots you'll find for exploring this striking mountain range, and there's no better way to take it in than on horseback. We're fortunate to call this incredible riding country home, and our horseback program reflects that — thoughtfully tailored to riders of every experience level, so whether you're in the saddle for the first time or a lifelong rider, we'll shape the experience around you.

“Over the Top experience at Medicine Bow Lodge!!! Wow!!! Thank you Debbie and Tim and your amazing staff!!! We had an unbelievable family time!! You all went above and beyond in every area to make this a special memory for our family of 18 - ages 2 1/2 to 66 years old. To begin our day with a delicious made to order breakfast to riding horses to sitting by the creek watching my grandchildren play to painting horses to shooting to fishing on the lakes to yummy lunch on the porch over looking the creek to delicious dinners served in the dining room to bon fires at night etc etc!!
